Savannah's Welsh Stud
Steehorst Alayka as a 2 year old
Savannah's Welsh Stud was found in 2000 when we bought our first Welsh B mare from H.Zoet (Ysselvliedt Stud), this was the pretty palomino mare Steehorst Alayka, it was love at first sight, such a sweet, pretty mare especially with children. When we bought her she was in foal to Skellorn Benedict.
That same year we also bought Hoekhorst Sweet Serena from M. Hoeke (Hoekhorst Stud) this lovely, adorable grey mare was in foal with Moelgarnedd Montana.
Steehorst Alayka gave us a lovely palomino colt Savannah's Aneirin Dyll Tudor.
Hoekhorst Sweet Serena gave us the pretty chestnut colt Savannah's Sweet Dafydd Dei.
Both mares and colts did very well in the show ring.
The beginning of our breeding stud was made.
As a breeder from the lovely Welsh B ponies we are breeding for a good riding pony with quality, good movements, very good bloodlines, adequate bone and substance, hardiness and constitution and also with a very good pony character.
So when we got the opportunity to buy the mare Sandy's Lady Di in foal to Carmana's Edel Boy, we couldn't let that go by. Out of this combination came the gorgeous filly Savannah's Mabli Seren. After several colts this was the first filly on Savannah's Welsh Stud.
Because of our immegration to Canada we couldn't take all of our mares and youngstock with us, so we sold Sandy's Lady Di who had Savannah's Tywysog Cymry on foot and in foal to Hillin Jack the Lad. Out of that combination came the colt Hudson Hawk (Belgium champion as foal). We also sold with pain in our hearts Steehorst Alayka, even though, we knew that she would go to a very good home in the homeland, she is in Wales at the Hillin Stud.We took Bouchka (our daughter's first pony), Hoekhorst Sweet Serena with her filly Savannah's Seren Gwendolyn (Wildzang's Sunstar) and in foal to Hilin Jack the Lad, and Savannah's Mabli Seren with her filly Savannah's Mairwen Alayka (Savannah's Benedict Bouchka) with us to Canada.
